Chateau Filhot has 60 hectares of vineyards, planted with 60 per cent Semillon, 36 per cent Sauvignon Blanc, and 4 per cent Muscadelle. Bordering on the forests of the Landes, and with the small Ciron river flowing through the property, Chateau Filhot has an ideal microclimate for developing 'botrytis cinerea' on the grapes. Only the best grapes are selected and yields are very low as a result, somewhere between 10 and 20 hectolitres per hectare depending on the vintage. This high proportion of Sauvignon and the refusal to use any new oak gives Filhot a fruitier, more aromatic quality than some of the bigger-boned Sauternes. Available in 37.5 cl Half Bottles.
