The Yalumba Barossa Chardonnay is pale straw in colour, with aromas of lemon, peach and grapefruit with hints of nutty oak. The palate is textured and creamy, displaying lingering fruit flavours of peaches and figs with subtle cashew nut characters and a citrus freshness on the finish. The warmer Barossa Valley components show ripe stone fruit characters and generous palate weight, while the cooler Eden Valley parcels contribute elegant flavours and aromas of figs and lemons and ensure that the wines will cellar well. Fine-grained French oak, used for part of the wine's fermentation and maturation, imparts subtle flavours and textures to the wine, increasing the complexity and generosity of the palate. (6 x 75 cl)

Dewy mornings, soft mists and the gentle warmth of the autumn sun on ripening grapes. Difficult conditions to fulfill but essential for the development of botrytis cinerea or noble rot; the essence of some of the great sweet wines of the world. Only when conditions are exactly right will bortrytis appear to cast its spell and, like nature's alchemist, turn the ordinary into gold. Semillon is the classic grape of Sauternes, its thick skin endowing it with a natural propensity to botrytis. The Yalumba Noble Pick Semillon is luscious and complex, with layers of lavender, honey, spice and marmalade-flavours. Made from the classic Sauterne variety of Semillon, the grapes stayed ripe on the vines until mid April when rains and dewy mornings initiated a good even botrytis infection. The following warm sunny days were perfect for its development and near-100% cover of the grapes. The Botrytis Semillon shows apricots, fresh lemons and orange peel, with a touch of passionfruit on the nose. The palate is long and luscious, with flavours of apricots, lavender, honey, spice and marmalade. The finish is fresh with long lingering flavours.
The concept of blending Shiraz and Viognier is not new. It is derived from the great French wine region of Northern Rhone, in particular, the Cote Rotie area. Cote Rotie has often been described as one of France's finest and most perfumed red wines. W I N E S T Y L E Yalumba Hand Picked Shiraz + Viognier 1999 is deep cherry red in colour with purple hues. Lifted floral aromatics surround ripe fleshy plums, chocolate and dried fruits. On the palate, fine tannins support the intense flavours of ripe cherries, liquorice, anise and violets. This wine can be enjoyed now, but will benefit from medium term cellaring. The addition of Viognier to Shiraz intensifies the colour, adds an extra dimension and a wonderful fragrance to the bouquet, and brings softness to the rich and powerful Barossa Shiraz. This rare blend from Yalumba of 87% Shiraz and 13% Viognier is 100% Barossa, with the majority of the fruit sourced from the Eden Valley. (6 x 75 cl)
