Chateau Talbot is in an ideal location a short distance from the Gironde Estuary, here the vines grow in fine gravelly rises, which alone are capable of producing the region's great wines. Talbot is one of the most ancient estates in the Medoc and has fortunately passed from one competent manager to another over the centuries, and is fully worthy of its classification in 1855 as a great growth. Chateau Talbot was named after Connetable Talbot, the English commander who was a hero of the battle of Castillon in 1453. Now owned by the Cordier family, traditional methods are used alongside modern ones to ensure the quality and reguarity of production. White fruits aromas have produced an expressive nose, the palate seems lean and ungiving on entry, but fattens up on the midpalate. There are some good flavours here, including mineral notes and white fruit. Appropriate acidity with balance produce a wine with a clean finish. (12 x 75 cl)
