On the nose, excellent toast aromas and long lift on the nose. Palate flavours include toast as well as vanillin flavour in the mid to back palate. This wine will develop further with classic aged Hunter Semillon trademarks. A selection from the best vineyards on sandy soil in the Hunter, the wine is fermented in stainless steel, bottled young and then aged in bottle until its release. Brokenback Semillon is light pale straw in colour. Lifted aromas of mineral and lemon on the nose follow through as intense flavours on the tightly structured and lean palate. Cellaring: The cellaring potential of premium Hunter Valley semillon is well known. The Rothbury Estate Brokenback Semillon is a fine example of the variety, and with careful cellaring will continue to develop toasty and savoury characters with three to eight years of bottle age. Winemaking: After crushing and pressing the juice was chilled prior to being racked bright into a temperature-controlled tank for fermentation. In the tradition of great Hunter Valley Semillon this wine was bottled early to retain the fresh varietal fruit character. (6 x 75 cl)
