Owner Andrew Hendry has carved out a niche as being one of the best boutique wineries of New Zealand at his high-tech establishment just north of Auckland. His wines frequently gain top prizes in New Zealand's most prestigious wine shows.
The name says it all, a classic tasting note for Sauvignon. This does have some richer tropical flavours as well as the zingy green herbiness.
Zesty citrus, grapefruit and lemongrass on the nose with lemon-lime flavours and peppery spice on the palate. The crisp finish has delicious, refreshing hints of gooseberry and passion-fruit. (12 x 75 cl)
Dry Creek Vineyard was the first new winery to be established in the Dry Creek Valley since the days of Prohibition, when David Stare arrived in 1972. Today, Dry Creek Vineyard wines are easy to recognise due to the spirited yacht paintings that appear on the label of each bottle. David Stare's pioneering vision launched a new era of premium wine production in the Dry Creek Valley. Inspired by his travels throughout the traditional wine regions of France and Germany, Dave's focus was ever on quality. To persue this focus, small batch winemaking has been adopted because individual-lot winemaking promotes increased knowledge about how to manage each vineyard while offering maximum blending options and enhanced quality control. Dry Creek Vineyard insists on crafting each lot of wine separately with each vineyard lot crushed, fermented, and barrel aged separately. Approximately 75-100 different wines are produced each vintage, where fining is the exception, not the rule. Only produced in exceptional years this Reserve is aged 24 months in American and French oak to produce a wine of sumptuous and complex character. A deep ruby red coloured wine with aromas of blackberry, cassis and a touch of herbs there is a hint of spice that develops in the glass. Full-bodied with a wonderfully textured mouthfeel there are flavours of blackberry and cassis that abound in this elegantly structured wine. A lingering finish softens nicely with a touch of clove, tobacco and vanilla. (12 x 75 cl)

Intense berry fruit dominate the aromas while this multi-layered wine features ripe fruits and cassis flavours with chocolate, cedar, mint, and herbal notes. Rich and full in the mouth, the finely proportioned oak completes the long balanced finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Refined tropical flavours and a hint of orange blossom are underscored with a trace of nutty vanilla. A rich mid-palate and a lingering finish reflecting French oak ageing the Reserve is more round and creamy, full and well balanced. (12 x 75 cl)

Dry Creek Vineyard's cornerstone wine continues to exemplify Sauvignon Blanc winemaking in its purest sense. Fermented 3 weeks 85% in stainless steel tanks and 15% barrel fermented it is then aged 3 months in French and American oak. This Flagship Fume Blanc is fragrantly scented with fresh mown grass and grapefruit notes. Clean and fresh on the palate, a blend of lemongrass, citrus and honeysuckle flavours is followed by light oak and a hint of cream and vanilla. (12 x 75 cl)

Zinfandel Heritage Clone is the product of experimentation with budwood from a pre-Prohibition era vineyard. The result is a rustic, traditional style of Zinfandel, with ripe berry aromas and flavours bolstered by earthy, dusty notes. It is well structured with a balanced vanilla oak finish. (12 x 75 cl)
