A subtle lush seductive white with a heady perfume and a smooth texture. This French variety from the Rhone Valley has become one of the world's most fashionable white wines. It's a very distinctive and relatively scarce wine and it's not easy to grow but thrives within Herzog's special terroir. The grapes are a deep yellow and the resulting wine is high in colour, alcohol, and has a very particular perfume redolent of apricots, peaches and blossom.
The grapes were handpicked and harvested mid April and fermented and aged in French 500 litre oak puncheons.
Handpicked at less than 500g per vine from a 4 hectare vineyard called "Spirit". This is a big wine with an impressively opaque purple colour and sweet berry fruit mixed with caramel, mocha and vanilla. It displays outstanding concentration, length, intensity and depth, copious ripe tannins and a fine mouth-feel. A blend of 60% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Malbec once in the winery this wine is aged 24 months on lees and bottle aged a further 2 years before release. (12 x 75 cl)
A sensational, full-bodied and dark ruby coloured Montepulciano bursting with power, concentration and texture. A heady nose, displaying light violet and floral characteristics underpinned by dark chocolate and tarry, savoury overtones. It is a complex blend of intense ripe fruit enveloped by fine tannins. A Pinot Noir mutation, which produces soft, gently perfumed wines with more substance and colour than most whites. Rich and full-bodied yet still a dry wine with fine flavours of quince and William pears. (12 x 75 cl)
This is an exceptional wine with outstanding depth and structure and a velvety rich dark cherry colour. The wine exhibits pretty layers of plum, and black cherry with subtle undertones of cedar and redcurrant.
