Description:
Eric Forest's parcel of vines on Les Crays was planted in 1967 and is part of a warm limestone site that is protected from the elements by the dramatic Rock of Vergisson. This Chardonnay has a profound perfume that encompasses scents of exotic fruit and hazelnuts while a wonderful profusion of flavours greets the palate, including fruit, flowers, minerals, herbs and spices.
A gold wine with a strong spicy menthol nose. The palate contains mineral and is rustic with grilled almonds. This wine is very long in the mouth. (12 x 75 cl)
A limited production southern white Burgundy with lovely ripe structure and chunky flavours, however this is perfectly balanced with a hint of flowers and limes in the middle palate and vanilla in the finish. Superb! (12 x 75 cl)
Manciat Poncet is a 12-hectare domaine split between the appellations of Macon and Pouilly Fuisse. The Manciat Poncets, who owns the domaine, believe that great wine is born in the vineyards and they work hard in they're immaculately kept vineyards. This wine maintains strict quality standards which include harvesting done entirely by hand and whole cluster pressing. While the work, and the work of their predecessors, is rewarded by the extraordinary quality of their wines, this is one of the top small domaines producing Pouilly Fuissé and Mâcon Charnay and the wines get high marks from virtually everybody. An oak aged Chardonnay exposed to a percentage of new barrels, while most is matured in seasoned, more neutral oak. This wine is elegant, with attractive minerality, balanced fruit and nice finish. (6 x 75 cl)
Les Combettes is from a small 1.8 hectare plot and is one of 3 Climats that are considered to be the stars of the Chateau, along with Les Brules and Le Clos. The result is a fine, delicate Chardonnay. The Chateau de Fuisse is located in the heart of the Maconnais vineyards in southern Burgundy. In this famous region, the Vincent family , produce wines of an exceptional quality thanks to the estate's outstanding location. Jean-Jacques Vincent, the current owner since 1966, is the worthy heir to this proud family heritage, as an agricultural engineer and oenologist, he has dedicated his life to the running of the family estate. He ensures that the authenticity of the product is constantly respected through a judicious combination of new technology and traditional methods. The majority of the estate's 30 hectares of vineyards are located in the districts of Fuisse and Pouilly , halfway up the hillsides with a south-south-easterly aspect. The argilo-calcareous soil with its variable proportions of clay and chalk give the wines both structure and elegance. Of varying ages, the vines are harvested separately and manually according to the 'climats' concerned. The Chardonnay grapes are transferred whole to the estate where they undergo slow pneumatic pressing to gently extract all the goodness of the juice. The vines are cared for using traditional methods, applying sustainable viticulture and totally organic fertilizer, thereby safeguarding the future of the plots farmed, while at the same time respecting their individual characters. The soil is always farmed in parcels in order to limit erosion and guarantee authenticity. (12 x 75 cl)
