The house of Pascal Jolivet is one of the youngest and most dynamic in the Loire Valley. He started the Grand Vins du Val de Loire in 1982, however, later founded the house of Pascal Jolivet in 1987. Here he specialised in the wines of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume which he has very quickly gained a leading position with the Michelin-starred restaurants in France. Today, with 70 acres of vineyards in the two premier appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume, bolstered by 50 percent purchased fruits, Pascal Jolivet produces classically styled Loire red and white wines. 100% Pinot Noir it has spent 12 months in barrel and bottled without filtration. This has produced a very clear ruby coloured wine with crimsons reflections. Showing concentrated flavours of red fruits including currant and cherry there are spiced notes evident from the barrel ageing. The palate is displaying ripe, very pure, concentrated fruit while the attack is very elegant culminating in a persistent finnish. (6 x 75 cl)

The very intense nose develops into subtle mineral aromas lifted by pear and citrus fruits. We note a splendid intensity in the mouth. The mineral notes are very present on the palate. This top-of-the-range Sancerre originates from the most beautiful soils from where it bears its name. This is one wine that be at its highest expression in 3 to 5 years. (6 x 75 cl)

The wine is well balanced, archetypal Sancerre with much smoothness and elegance in flavour. The terroir is evident by the mineral characteristics and it should evolve slowly. (12 x 75 cl)
