Beginning with the 1962 vintage, 'The Signature' wines of Yalumba have saluted the very best of the vintage. They have also acknowledged the skills and dedicated service of people who have enhanced the traditions and culture of Yalumba. The Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blend is a distinctively Australian style and 'The Signature' has set the benchmark for this iconic style, drawing heavily on Yalumba's great Barossa resource of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz vineyards. Deep and intense, the wine displays full palate weight with powerful fruit and soft American oak which was hand-coopered at Yalumba (6 x 75 cl)
The Oxford Landing Shiraz is a medium bodied wine that shows an intense crimson red colour with bright purple hue. The aroma is of red cherries and cloves with a subtle oak influence. Flavours of ripe red berry fruits and stewed plums on the palate are complexed by mocha chocolate characters and a mid palate sweetness. (12 x 75 cl)
The Yalumba Shiraz is an elegant red wine showing ripe plums, red berries and spice integrated with subtle American oak. Traditional in style, but very much suited to the lifestyle of today,Yalumba Shiraz would be well suited to roast lamb or risotto. (6 x 75 cl)
Yalumba 'The Octavius' has established a reputation as one of Australia's icon Shiraz wines, an amazing feat considering the first release was the 1990 vintage. Yalumba's The Octavius was once again sourced from dry grown old bushvines that produced low crops of intensely rich and powerful Shiraz fruit. The resulting wine is dense red in colour with a complex nose of spice, pepper, fruitcake, coffee bean, violet and vanillin toasty oak. The palate is truly intense with concentrated layers of plum, licorice and black olives balanced by fine-grained tannins. This wine will see through to the long term and has at least 10 years of cellaring potential. In addition to being sourced from a number of very old vineyards in the Barossa, The Octavius is matured in American oak 'octaves' of only 90 litres capacity. It is the only red wine in the world that is matured in such small barrels. The secret of the wine not becoming overpowered by the oak, is that the oak used is seasoned at Yalumba for eight years before the octaves are crafted. Yalumba is one of a select few wineries in the world who boast their own coopers practising the ancient craft of barrel making. (6 x 75 cl)
