The Pinot Noir is a fragrant wine with characteristic aromas of Adelaide Hills pinot: dark plums and sour cherries which follow through with similar savoury flavours on the mid palate. The wine is intense, has good weight and is beautifully focused. Jeffrey Grosset is one of the luminaries of the Australian wine industry, the result of consistent and stellar quality over the past 25 years, and has almost single-handedly been responsible for the renaissance of Clare Riesling. Petaluma Chardonnay has characteristic ripe peach aromas and the texture and flavour dimension conferred by the high degree of ripeness. The mineral aroma and finish is due to the old geology and soils of the Piccadilly Valley. The hand harvested small bunches of Chardonnay from Petaluma's six distinguished site vineyards in the Piccadilly Valley were crushed and chilled to press, immediately upon arrival in the winery. The heart run juice was separated by gravity and gentle pressing and allowed to settle to clarity by the action of gravity in cooled, insulated tanks. The clear juice was racked to new medium toast Vosges barriques for prolonged fermentation with Petaluma's own yeast strains. Following primary fermentation, the malolactic fermentation by Petaluma's own bacteria strains was allowed to go to completion in barriques. For the next four months the wine was stirred on lees in barrique on a weekly basis (6 x 75 cl)

This vintage is very much in the style of the very best Polish Hill Rieslings, with a vibrant zesty lime and mineral character, tight, steely structure, impeccable balance, layer after layer of intense flavour, and a refreshing, lingering bone-dry finish. Fruit for the Polish Hill Riesling is sourced from a single vineyard, planted at 460 metres above sea level on sandy loam over shallow clay, with underlying gravel, shale and slate. Like the Grosset Watervale Riesling, it has been made each year since 1981. Jeffrey Grosset is one of the luminaries of the Australian wine industry, the result of consistent and stellar quality over the past 25 years, and has almost single-handedly been responsible for the renaissance of Clare Riesling. His Polish Hill Riesling, one of the world’s great examples of this variety, stands out as Australia’s finest Riesling. (12 x 75 cl)

Established in 1981 by Jeffrey Grosset in the historic township of Auburn in the southern tip of the Clare Valley 100 kilometres north of Adelaide. The winery is stylish but functional and reflects the attention to detail that extends to Jeffrey Grosset's estate-owned Clare Valley vineyards and to the winemaking. Sourced from Grosset's windswept Gaia vineyard in the Clare Valley, this wine is a blend of cabernet sauvignon , cabernet franc and merlot . Great care is taken from the vineyard to the winery and before the final blend was assembled the wine spends sixteen months in French oak barrique, 50 per cent of which were new. Opulent, concentrated and very impressive, this blend has a brooding intensity on the nose, being initially supple and smooth it is also powerful yet appears restrained. Showing ripe dark berry fruit flavours, some meaty, earthy notes and substantial fine tannins which build in the mouth making the finish firm and dry. (12 x 75 cl)
