This estate is located on the top of the plateau, facing due south, near the little chapel of Saint Pierre. The 3.9 ha of vineyards on granite bedrock with chalk and silt-laden deposits grow 10 to 60 year Syrah vines used in this wine. After spending 12 months in oak barrels, of which 20% are new wood, this deep ruby coloured wine is showing a bouquet of spices, red berries while finishing with a liquorice note. The palate is distinguished, powerful and elegant through to the finish. (12 x 75 cl)
This 5 ha estate is located at Limony and Tournon, on a light soil of schist and gneiss on granite bedrock. Once in the winery this Shiraz wine will spend 9 months in oak casks to produce a deep ruby red with violet hues. The bouquet is both rich and concentrated showing very ripe red fruits, sweet spices and liquorice notes to finish. The palate is harmonious and frank with rounded tannins through to the long finish. The name of this Saint Joseph wine comes from Victor Hugo’s 'Legende des siecles': in the 9th century, the Grand Pompee, faithful companion to Charlemagne, fought at his side against the Moors, on the right bank of the Rhone. A famous line remains from this battle: 'and wine, that wine beloved of the Grand Pompee'. Available in 37.5 cl Half Bottles. (24 x 37.5 cl)
The 'Les Pierres' cuvee is the product of double selection. As soon as the Syrah grapes are harvested, the finest harvests from the Clos de Cuminaille, as well as from Côte Bellay and Côte de Limony, are identified, separated and matured in new barrels. At the end of the maturing process, the best barrels are chosen for the 'Les Pierres' cuvee. (12 x 75 cl)
