They have been variously described as meaty, substantial, tannic, robust, spicy and austere. People talk of them having a big presence on the palate. Sons Pierre and Louis Boillot (Louis coincidentally being the husband of winemaker Ghislaine Barthod of Chambolle-Musigny) now manage the domaine. There style is powerful and a wine that will cellar and soften, for years. Les Evocelles is a Côte de Nuits Village vineyard that is close to the 1er Crus vineyards on the slopes above the village. The wine is a purple colour with leaf and fruit aromas. An excellent example of great Pinot Noir ripe crunchy with a long finish.
