The Combiers have been aware of this natural approach long before organic farming was fashionable. All their vineyards and surrounding orchards have been farmed organically for the last 30 years. A hands on winegrower, Laurent Combier likes to describe himself as a self-taught entrepreneur, he is a passionate and down to earth man. His winery located near Pont de lÂ’Isere, amply demonstrates his philosophy: it is welcoming and bright on the visitors side, sober and rational on the winemaking side. Hand harvested from Laurents own imaculate vineyards and vinified in his new cellar, equipped as one would expect with the most modern equipment. Laurent however, believes (6 x 75 cl)

The Caves des Clairmonts is a small cooperative of 10 members with vineyard holdings based over 5 communes in the south east corner of the Crozes Hermitage appellation. They own 100 ha of Crozes vineyards and 8.5 hectares outside the delimited region which is designated Vins de Pays de la Drome. Crozes Hermitage is the largest of the northern Rhone appellations and this wine is sourced from complimenting vineyard sites. Harvested seperately, the small, individual parcels are vinified in steel then aged in old barrels before blending and bottling. A complex nose of spice and savoury bacon aromas mingled with a dark fruit character, leads into a rich palate with depth and a touch of coffee and chocolate on the finish. A fine structure lends a finesse and elegance to the wine. (6 x 75 cl)

From the higher slopes of the Cote d'Or and made entirely from Pinot Noir by this highly respected local co-operative. A warm, medium-bodied wine, initially light in taste, yet developing on the palate. Lovely cherry/ruby colour, with the subtle taste of a fine Burgundy. (12 x 75 cl)
