On the nose, excellent toast aromas and long lift on the nose. Palate flavours include toast as well as vanillin flavour in the mid to back palate. This wine will develop further with classic aged Hunter Semillon trademarks. A selection from the best vineyards on sandy soil in the Hunter, the wine is fermented in stainless steel, bottled young and then aged in bottle until its release. Established in 1970, Brokenwood Wines has evolved from a weekend venture for self-professed hobby winemakers into one of Australia's most reputable wine labels. (12 x 75 cl)

Brokenback Semillon is light pale straw in colour. Lifted aromas of mineral and lemon on the nose follow through as intense flavours on the tightly structured and lean palate. Cellaring: The cellaring potential of premium Hunter Valley semillon is well known. The Rothbury Estate Brokenback Semillon is a fine example of the variety, and with careful cellaring will continue to develop toasty and savoury characters with three to eight years of bottle age. Winemaking: After crushing and pressing the juice was chilled prior to being racked bright into a temperature-controlled tank for fermentation. In the tradition of great Hunter Valley Semillon this wine was bottled early to retain the fresh varietal fruit character. (6 x 75 cl)

This Hunter Valley Shiraz is showing medium density colour with bright youthful tints. Aromas of mocha, dark chocolate and charry bramble from the oak give way to blackberry as well as savoury Hunter Shiraz fruit. A good restrained alcohol weight carries the rich flavours while the palate has vanillin and dark cherry. The soft tannins and dry finish round out this well made wine. (12 x 75 cl)
