A blend of 85% Sangiovese as well as a little Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the fruit comes from the Santedame Estate located near the village of Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico area. Ruby red in colour the Sangiovese grapes at the Santedame Estate always distinguish themselves by a fantastic, fragrant, fruity character. This adds an almost aromatic character to the bouquet which includes small red and black berry fruits, violets, ripe plums, white pepper grains, toasted coffee and plain chocolate notes intertwine, leading to an elegant, refined finish. The Santedame Chianti Classico 2005 is medium-bodied and smooth with elegant, soft fruity notes, while the tannins are velvety and well integrated in the fruity core. The after taste is long lingering and characterised by notes of strawberry pie and cherry jam. The label of the Santedame Chianti Classico shows a beautiful fresco of Virgin Mary, accompanied by Saint John and Saint Peter. This fresco, which has a sweet, loving air to it, can be seen in the small chapel hidden in the forest of the Santedame Estate. The fresco dates back to the fourteenth century and is attributed to the school of the famous Florentine artist Il Ghirlandaio. It is one of the many examples of how history, culture and wine meet on the Santedame Estate. (6 x 75 cl)

The Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale is a selection of the best Sangiovese; as well as other red varieties admitted by Chianti Classico code; during harvest. Once in the wienry the fruit complets malo-lactic fermentation and is then aged in stainless-steel vats for a brief period and then in 40/80 hl. oak casks. Finally, the wine has undergone a minimum of 3 month's bottle refinement. Ruby red with garnet hues Riserva Ducale is characterised by particularly fragrant, fruity notes including sweet cherries and red berry fruits while there are delicate spicy hints of cigar box and white pepper grains as well as elegant scents of red roses and flint. Fruity, soothing and well-balanced, the taste reveals velvety tannins and lots of fruit. The long ageing in oak enriches the fruity core with hints of cacao and cloves and the long-lingering aftertaste adds intriguing notes of rosemary and figs. (12 x 75 cl)
