Planeta has risen spectacularly since inception in 1994, being named Winery of the Year 1999. This 100% Merlot wine destem and crush the grapes, followed by the process of extraction on skins conducted over 14 days of maceration with regular plunging and pumping over. After draining the wine is matured in French oak barrels for 12 months. Intense red wine with a strong ruby hue and a complex nose, with mineral notes of graphite and flint, alongside the fruit (red berries and plums, bilberry and mulberry). The scent highlights are provided by hints of balsam and musk, laurel and leather, while the palate is concentrated, elegant, with lively tannins, refined and spicy. A lingering tannic note gives way to mint notes in the finish.
