Errazuriz Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon displays ripe cherry and blackberry aromas accentuated by notes of white pepper, wool and an intriguing hint of cayenne pepper. On the palate, the Cabernet Sauvignon component gives good structure to the softer Merlot. The ripe berry fruit is set off by the roasted red pepper and coffee flavours that are characteristic of Chilean Merlot. The oak is well integrated, contributing layers of toasted almond and vanilla. This full-bodied, fruity wine is ideal for early drinking and it should continue to gain complexity over the next few years. (12 x 75 cl)

The Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot from Calbuco has great depth of colour, with perfumes of blackcurrant and a hint of tobacco leaf from the addition of the Merlot , which gives way to a soft, ripe rounded fruit character, with supple tannins and a juicy finish. In 2005 winemaker Alberto Antonini visited this producer to look at their vineyards and wines in tank and, following his input, they have now put together these blends which we think offer superb value within the Chilean sector. Calbuco is a volcano in the Andes, as striking a symbol of Chile as its wine. (12 x 75 cl)
