Domaine Mas Amiel Blanc Maury
The Maury Blanc is from old Grenache Gris vines on schistous slopes. Yields are a miserly 15hl/ha, Vinification is at 18c followed by a mutage to adjust the alcohol. The wine is then aged in tank on the fine lees. It has a beautiful limpid colour with hints of green and a mineral stone evoking warm stones and orange blossom which develops further with aeration to unveil fresh brioche and pollen. In the mouth it is lively, round and supple and unleashes panoply of flavours including boxwood, star fruit, mandarin and juniper. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine Mas Amiel Rouge Maury
This Maury is made in the same style as the rimage wines of Banyuls. From 100% Grenache Noir grown on the south-facing broken schists and marne soils and yields of 25 hl/ha, the grapes are subsequently sorted, destemmed and vinified in the normal way. The alcohol is added while the wine is still in the vat , which slows down the final fermentation, allowing a longer period of maceration and thereby conferring greater richness. This Maury is ruby with violet tints and the nose eloquently expresses framboise, cherry and crème-de-cassis. It is smooth in the mouth, the red fruits reinforced by bitter chocolate and spice as well as fine tannins. (12 x 75 cl)

Les Vignerons de Maury Maury Solera 1928 cask number 858
Maury lies in a valley to the east of Perpignan in the Roussillon. Here fortified wines are made from Grenache Noir, Grenache Gris and Carignan grapes. The wine is selected from 500 litres barrels that have lain undisturbed, apart from the occasional drawing, since the early days of the Co-operative. To produce this wine Gerard Gauby has tasted all the barrels and then 450 bottles are drawn from each barrel selected, and bottled by hand without fining or filtration. Next the barrels are topped up with the latest vintage so that each barrel has a different character; those with the highest volatility holding the greatest interest.

This has produced a dark, aged, richly aromatic fortified wine. This tawny-brown confection is immensely rich and chocolatey, with complex, aged characters and undertones of spices, coffee and candied fruits.

Mas Amiel VINTAGE Maury Charles Dupuy
There is no doubt that Mas Amiel is making some of the most distinctive and refined fortifieds currently available. The vintage wines are explosively rich, fruity and complex, with the ability to age 15-20 years, while the reserves, exhibit a huge bouquet, combined with strength and exuberance and a marvellous elegance and finesse.Their ageing process is quite peculiar, after fortification the wines are stored in 70 litre glass demi-johns and kept outside for a year before moving to large oak foudres to complete their ageing process. The placement of the wines in the torrid heat is believed to give them their particular style and complexity (6 x 75 cl)
