Description:
Bellanotte is an eight-hectare farm in the variegated terroirs of the Isonzo valley and Collio hills. The soil is mainly calcareous with the presence of red gravels and a layer of ferrous stone. The harvest is manual with careful bunch selection while in the winery a pre-fermentation cold maceration helps to extract the aromatic components of the grapes and an extended period in contact with the lees lends the wine its eventual softness and equilibrium.
This is the true ramato Pinot Grigio with a light amber colour and a pearly sheen in the glass. The nose suggests hay, elderflower and tea rose, followed by red apple, with light tones of dried fruits and almonds. The fine acidity gives the wine sapidity and persistence.
Golden yellow in colour with ample bouquet with hints of vanilla and almonds, and the buttery texture of white Burgundy. Gianni Vescovo’s prestigious winery in Farra d’Isonzo is based at the site of an old convent. The high-tech equipment installed by Vescovo in the late 1970’s contrasts the historic surroundings of the cellar. State of the art winemaking and low yielding vines come together in well-structured white wines from Vescovo’s 22 hectares in Collio (12 x 75 cl)
Limpid, pale straw yellow in colour. Crisp, fruity, fragrant, fine nose. Elegant body with breed and lengthy finish. The Zorzettig family own the La Tunella 65 hectare vineyard in Ipplis at the heart of the Colli Orientali, where 9 hectares of Pinot Grigio are planted to make this wine. The grapes are harvested by hand in mid September where the best grapes are selected, fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats and french oak. The bouquet is full of rich tropical fruits and acacia flowers. Robust, full-bodied to the palate and moderately acidic this wine combines well with the pleasant hint of vinilla as a result of the french oak barrels. (12 x 75 cl)
Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio is light straw in colour with coppery highlights reflecting the brief period of skin contact. It is full and open on the nose, with perfumes of orange blossom and wild roses. On the palate it has good depth, with tight, restrained flavours of peach and apricot, liquorice and white pepper. It finishes long, dry, clean and fresh. The Pinot Grigio grapes were de-stemmed, without crushing the berries, and then macerated briefly on the skins before a gentle pressing. Fermentation took place between 17-19° C in temperature controlled tanks. Recently revitalised by Livio’s four children , the estate is now well on the way to reclaiming its rightful place among the great producers in Italy. The energy injected into the estate by the younger generation has been harnessed by consultant viticulturalist/winemaker Stefano Chioccioli. As a result of their combined work, the whites have acquired more intense and focused flavours, while the reds have a ripeness and suppleness that is seldom achieved in Friuli. (6 x 75 cl)
Cristian and his grandfather have found the perfect vineyard to re-establish a family history of wine making. Set in the heart of the Friuli DOC wine making region, between the ancient Roman city of Aquileia and the medieval garrison city of Palmanova, they found the perfect estate inorder to obtain distinctively typical flavours. All grapes are gathered by hand and subjected to exacting wine making processes (6 x 75 cl)
