Description:
The grape variety here is known locally as Mansois (the local patois for Fer Servadou). The soil of Marcillac is very particular, called 'rougier' by the locals, due to its intense red colour, thanks to the high iron content. The wines are high in jagged acidity showing a haunting earthiness and the Cuvee Lairis undergoes 28 days of maceration in closed fermenters. The wine exhibits a supple texture full of red and black fruits.
The grape variety here is known locally as Mansois . The soil of Marcillac is very particular, called 'rougier' by the locals, due to its intense red colour, thanks to the high iron content. The wines are high in jagged acidity showing a haunting earthiness and the Peirafi is a special cuvee based on a rigorous selection grown on old vines. It is fermented in open tanks with the cap punched down twice a day then aged in well-seasoned barrels or foudres for 20 months. This mouthful of forest fruit, minerals and spices teases, provokes and delights in equal measure. (6 x 75 cl)
Smokey bramble spice with the structure to be expected from this grower based in Pommard. Good depth of fruit and some evident tannin. Jean-Luc father died when he was very young and as a result the estate was held in trust for him until he was 21 years old. That was many years ago and today he uses traditional Burgundian methods, enthusiastically overseeing every aspect of the winemaking process. Recently he was named president of the Winemakers’ Association in Pommard. (12 x 75 cl)
This Syrah is made from vines over 70 years old and all work in the vineyard is completed manually. Once in the winery the grapes are vinified, after total de-stemming, in temperature controlled stainless steel vats with a 28 days maceration and finally the wine spends 18 months in new oak barrels. A superb deep red coloured wine with a powerfull, rich, complex nose of black fruit, gunflint, liquorice, garrigue enhanced by a well mastered maturing in top quality oak. Harmonious and elegant on the palate the 'La Louvee' exhibits a phenominal concentration. One can appreciate the balance between the body and the structure and the long finish is enhanced by mature and silky tannins. (12 x 75 cl)
