Description:
In the 19th century the great grandfather of Erwan Faiveley, the 7th generation of this family domaine, recognised the potential of the Cote Chalonnaise and began buying vineyards. Les Mauvarennes is one of five monopole or single vineyards owned by them in Mercurey. The family believe that 95% of the quality of wine comes from the fruit and so great care is taken both in the vineyard and winery. Pinot Noir grapes are vinified at low temperature in stainless steel before maturation in oak casks for at least 12 months. Filtration is kept to a minimum to retain as much flavour in the wine as possible. This Mercurey is classic Faiveley - elegant yet concentrated rich, red fruit flavours with a good structure, drinking now especially with game or a tradtional roast but will also age well.
