This wine is the young version of Carmignano, made with the same grapes (Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon) and the addition of Canaiolo. It is named after the historic Medici Royal property known as the Barco reale, enclosed by a boundary wall which was over 30 miles in length.

Capezzana's wines have never been better - and they will continue to improve over the years. The younger generation of the Contini Bonacossi family is now firmly in charge of this estate, with the highly talented Stefano Chioccioli giving them a hand in the winery. The Barco Reale is a younger version of Capezzana's Carmignano DOCG, as the fruit is sourced from slightly younger vines in the same vineyards.
