Bodegas Alicia Rojas has a long and rich history that begins in 1920. In his first traditional cellar in Laguardia, Mr Gonzalo Rojas began making wines from the indigenous grape Tempranillo and soon began ageing them in oak, something he had learnt from a trip to Bordeaux. His wines were soon held in high esteem and this, along with his commitment to the growth of the wine business in Rioja, soon saw him appointed to the Administrative Council. Today the Rojas family wines are still highly rated and they produce both ordinary Tinto and Crianza as well as an organic version of both under the Solarce label. (12 x 75 cl)

A modern Bodegas with old fashioned values. The young wine has undergone carbonic maceration which helps maintain a lovely freshness to the wine. (12 x 75 cl)

The Joven is the typical unoaked Rioja made from a blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Viura and is almost indecently purple in colour. The nose exhibits the carbonic pastille notes to begin, then evolves more floral aromas of mint and lavender, accompanied by fresh fruits such as framboise and cherry. The palate is delightfully lively with the acidity carrying the fresh fruit flavours gracefully across the tongue. A wine that should be served out of the fridge. (12 x 75 cl)

This wine was produced on one of the best ever Rioja vintages, from a blend of carbonic maceration wine together with de-stemmed one in order to get perfect harmony between fruit and structure and acidity. Deep red colour with a faint cherry colour. It has an intense aroma, a mixture of lactics and red fruits such as the morello cherry with woods aromas, roasted coffee and cocoa. It is very expressive in the mouth structures, warm and complex with a long finish leaving a reminder of toffee. (12 x 75 cl)
