San Felice is one of the popular names in Tuscan winemaking. This heavyweight estate owns 750 hectares of land centred around a small village in the heart of the Chianti Classico, the zone noted for producing the biggest and longest-lived wines.
Intense tawny-red wine, it is rich, smooth and full flavoured.
Brilliant deep ruby red wine. Aged in oak for at least two years to give a superb dry, full flavour, with overtones of spice and red fruits, well balanced tannins and a mouth filling smoothness. (12 x 75 cl)
An exceptional riserva, very deep ruby red, with a pronounced and slightly fragrant aroma. Full bodied, with good sangiovese fruit and perfectly balanced tannins. (12 x 75 cl)
Eighteen months ageing in French barriques gives a rich, full flavoured tawny red wine with a lasting and intense bouquet, fine fruit and plenty of tannin. (6 x 75 cl)
Organic, vegetarian. Unlike many a Classico, this wine is more than willing to show off its approachable personality. Deep purple in the glass, followed by a delicious nose of crushed black fruits and spicy notes. The palate is equally accessible, round a (12 x 75 cl)
Organic. From an estate dating back to the 1400s, this delicious red is just reaching its peak, using traditional methods but with an attention to detail often lacking in Italian wines, the result is breathtaking. Gobs of soft fleshy fruit flavours on the palate with a whirl of delicate blackcurrent notes on the nose, a complete and rewarding glass, that would partner just the grandest dishes. (12 x 75 cl)
Grapes: Sangioveto 95 %; Canaiolo 5 % It is fermented in glazed concrete and stainless steel vats for about 14 days. During fermentation the skins and must are pumpedover and punched-down a number of times to extract the maximum qualities from the grapes. After the wine has been racked, the skins are soft-pressed in an horizontal press and the juice thus obtained is added to the wine. Malolactic fermentation is stimulated by heating the building where the vats are stored. The wine is aged in medium sized casks and oak Tonneaux for about 10-12 months, during which period it is racked several times. Before being released, it is held in bottle for at least another 4-5 months. Thinning out of grapes: 50%. A rainy summer, especially in the period August (12 x 75 cl)
Le Baroncole Chianti Classico Le Baroncole is made from 97% Sangiovese and 3% Canaiolo grapes. The initial stages of its production are the same as for our Chianti Classico. It is then aged in French oak barriques for a period which varies from 16 to 20 months, according to the vintage. It is bottled unfiltered and held for a further six months, before it is released. Le Baroncole is a wine of long ageing potential. (6 x 75 cl)
