Description:
Elegance and class in a bottle. The scent of roses introduces this firm, dry Riesling, followed by peach and mineral shadings on a harmonious framework. Very pretty, with moderate length on the finish.
Mid yellow gold. Concentration and power on the nose with very ripe, old vine fruit. Fine palate structure, very clean and intense. Almost steely acidity. Fine. (12 x 75 cl)
Mid gold. Understated power and weight on the nose with underlying, ripe, old vine character. Fine palate weight and structure with impressive acidity and serious style, which should keep it ageing well. Long and fine. (12 x 75 cl)
Mid yellow. Ripe and intense varietal nose with hints of typically petrolly character. Bright and high-toned palate with fine acidity. Great balance and class. (12 x 75 cl)

The renowned house of Josmeyer was founded in 1854 in Wintzenheim and has been in unbroken family ownership for 5 generations. Grapes are sourced from there own 23 hectares of vineyards, which include some four hectares of the renowned Grands Crus Hengst and Brand. In addition Josmeyer have long term contracts for grapes from a further 12 hectares which are worked to the strict Josmeyer principles. The vines are pruned hard and yields are kept well below the average for Alsace. There is a minimal chemical treatment and grass is grown between the rows to restrict yields and encourage the roots deeper into the subsoil. The vineyards are currently being run under the Lutte Raisonnee scheme but the family have experimented siuccessfully with Biodynamie and are moving resolutely towards conversion of all their sources of grape supply to a fully biodynamic regime. All grapes are handpicked and thenn whole-bunch pressed prior to fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Only natural yeasts are employed and both chaptalization and malolactic fermentation are avoided so as to ensure that the natural balance of each wine is preserved and the vintage and vineyard differences are emphasised (12 x 75 cl)
Gold coloured, this wine has a beautiful aromatic complexity , fresh grapes, pineapple and foral aromas are typical of the grape variety. On palate this Grand Cru is rich, fleshy, and robust with exotic fruit flavours.
