Enate defines itself as a winery for the 21st century. Design and artistic merit is not only reflected in the wine but the whole approach to wine making. The winery is an asthetic and functional residence for wine, which has got nothing to do with the dark subterranean image that has mould and humidity as its main characteristics. While the Reserva Especial wine has a new label designed each year by a prominent artist with Gustavo Torner producing the 2000 vintage. Enate harvests its grapes from 400 hectares of own vineyards, situated in Enate valley and around the villages of Salas Altas, Salas Bajas and Cregenzan. Only the best grapes are selected and great care is taken from the vineyrd to the winery. This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot , and is matured for 18 months in French oak barrels and 24 months in bottle before being released. A complex and intense nose of very ripe red fruits and an elegant symphony of ageing aromas are showing in this wine. The palate for this red wine is full of expression, round, fleshy and well structured while the finish is enjoyable and long. Limited Availability.
Matured in selected French oak casks for a minimum of one year, this wine has hints of cinnamon and truffle on the nose and a palate with firm tannins overlaid with toasty tobacco flavours leading to a long finish. (6 x 75 cl)
Matured in French barriques for at least a year this wine has cinnamon and truffle notes on the nose and a firm palate overlain with toasty tobacco flavours and a long finish (6 x 75 cl)
Secastilla Valley, located at the north-eastern edge of Somontano, has all of the distinctive climatic conditions needed for vine growing. We have recovered ancient Garnacha vineyards, the traditional Secastilla Valley variety, on its rocky hillsides, 700 metres above sea level, in the highest point of the Somontano region. We use these grapes and other complementary varieties, harvested at the end of October to create a complex and highly unique wine. We are the only winery in Somontano producing a wine like this. The first vintage was 2001. The production is very limited. This is a very special and singular wine, quite different from the typical style of Somontano wines. It has a deep ruby-like colour with violet highlights and very complex aromas, which combine the freshness of reineta apples with earthy nuances over a spicey/mineral background. In the mouth it is dense, fleshy and has a prolonged aftertaste that makes it unforgettable. We suggest it is served between 16C and 18C, as an ideal accompaniment to red meats, game and stews.
