Description:
The Pastor Domeco vineyards are situated in Aldeanueva del Ebro, on the eastern side of La Rioja, at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level. The area has the most sunshine and least rainfall of the entire Rioja Region, while it has approximately 2,500 inhabitants, all of whom are totally devoted to their main occupation - wine.
The vineyards are mostly bush vines, with an average age of 30 years. Production has been limited to less than 6,000 kg/hectare, and due to the microclimate of the zone the grapes are very healthy.
The Rioja Gran Reserva is produced in the traditional way from Tempranillo & Garnacha grapes, then aged in American and French oak barrels for over 12 months, and a further 24 in bottle. This wine is ruby red in colour, and has a complex, mature, fruity taste with an intense oak and vanilla finish.
