Description:
Muddy Water is the dream of owners Michael and Jane East, who purchased the property in 1993. Situated in the Waipara area of North Canterbury, New Zealand, Muddy Water is a direct translation from the Maori place name - wai (water) para (sediment, mud).
The grapes for this Muddy Water wine are hand picked and once in the winery aged in barrel for fifteen months before racking, blending and bottling without filtration. This has produced a big, structured wine packed with fruit but also showing some complex game and tobacco flavours.
Rich, toasted oak with hints of caramel and warm brioche. On the palate lovely grapefruit compote on buttered toast with butterscotch and roasted almonds. Situated in the Waipara area of North Canterbury, New Zealand, Muddy Water is a direct translation from the Maori place name (12 x 75 cl)
The new French oak gives texture and weight rather than any overt traits. Ripe berry fruit is layered with leathered, savoury notes and mocha cream. Classic Riesling nose with lime, honey, flowers and hints of petrol. The palate is richly textured, silky and very ripe. Situated in the Waipara area of North Canterbury, New Zealand, Muddy Water is a direct translation from the Maori place name (12 x 75 cl)
This rich, ruby coloured wine has a sensuous bouquet and flavour. There are fruit motifs of black cherries, purple plums and blackberries, intertwined with more savoury flavours emphasising roast meats, grilled mushrooms and black olives. Enveloping these are impression of chocolate mocha and cinnamon. It is both mouth filling and rich, but yet supple, athletic and lithe. It has a long aftertaste which lingers on the palate. (12 x 75 cl)
The sauvignon blanc was picked in April and the semillon in May and June, ensuring fully ripened, varietally intense fruit. Both were fermented by their natural, indigenous yeasts, the sauvignon blanc being in stainless steel to retain its zesty, bright fruit characters and the semillon in old, oak barriques to give richness, flavour and length. The wine has a complex array of aromas and flavours suggestive of passion-fruit, guavas, paw-paw, gooseberry, dried herbs and turkish musk. The palate is concentrated and rich, while the finish is lingering, spicy and dry. (12 x 75 cl)
The wine displays floral and lime aromas on the nose. The palate is full and rounded with an oily texture and a persistent dry finish. A youthful Riesling that will continue to evolve. (12 x 75 cl)
