On the palate the fruit has some depth and the tannins are very ripe through to the finish. Gevrey-Chambertin has 330 hectares under production at the northern end of the Cote de Nuits. Here, Le Creot, is located on a gentle slope near Brochon, considered to be one of the best areas in the appellation. 'Cré' in old French refers to the presence of chalk in the soil (craie) and 'ot' refers to the height of the vineyard (haut) on the slope.
