From soils especially rich in fossilised shellfish, this linear, comprehensive wine has enjoyed 15% fermentation & ageing in old oak to deliver further complexity. Jean-Claude Bessin's wines seem to take on his personality: his range of Chablis, 1er Crus Montmains and Fourchaume, and Grand Cru Valmur are among the most measured in the land.Based in La Chapelle Vaupelteigne, north of Chablis town, Jean-Claude's first vintage was the 1992. While he has not thrown himself upon the organic altar, his objective to achieve a `natural balance' in the vineyard has led to a 30% reduction in treatments, relying more upon natural predators such as the red spider mite. (12 x 75 cl)
The wines are perfect examples of Chablis minerality showing through tremendous weight and succulence. Beside meticulous vineyard management, this style is achieved through the use of older barrels which allow for effective lees contact and controlled access to oxygen (12 x 75 cl)
