Once in the winery this Shiraz wine will spend 9 months in oak casks to produce a deep ruby red with violet hues. The bouquet is both rich and concentrated showing very ripe red fruits, sweet spices and liquorice notes to finish. The palate is harmonious and frank with rounded tannins through to the long finish. The name of this Saint Joseph wine comes from Victor Hugo’s 'Legende des siecles': in the 9th century, the Grand Pompee, faithful companion to Charlemagne, fought at his side against the Moors, on the right bank of the Rhone.
