A highly regarded 950-acre estate in the Salentino plain of southern Italy's Puglia region, Candido features 462 acres of vineyard. It is owned and managed by Alessandro and Giacomo Candido, sons of the founder and consulting Enologist Severino Garofano who plays an instrumental role at the property. Affectionately known as the Prince of Southern Italian Winemaking, Garofano is Italy's top authority on the grape varieties of Italy's south and a champion of southern Italian winemaking. This 100% Negroamaro wine is macerated in stainless steel tanks for several days during fermentatio, after the malolactic fermentation the wine is matured in cask for added depth of character. Intense, full ruby coloured wine it is rich and spicy on the very harmonious nose. Well structured on the palate, concentrated, round, well balanced with strong but sweet tannins on a pleasantly bitter background.
