Planeta has risen spectacularly since inception in 1994, being named Winery of the Year 1999. A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine, the grapes are destemmed and crushed, followed by the process of extraction on skins conducted with 20 days of maceration with regoular plunging and pumping over. After draining the wine is matured in French oak barrels for 12 months. A deep ruby red colour is complemented by the rich and concentrated nose, strongly reminiscent of berries, leather, juniper, salt water and earthy and mineral notes; hints of vanilla and sandalwood softening the unexpected character of this wine. The palate is full-bodied, silky, energetic; with a strong and dense tannin structure. Pleasant with a long finish, it is an impressive wine with a surprising personality.
