Bergerac Rouge is perhaps the most Bordeaux-like of all French wine, being a near neighbour - 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet. The property has passed to father and son for 6 generations. Strongly recommended as a modestly priced wine of considerable style.
Dry, with good fruit, freshness and appeal. Delightful Sauvignon fruit is lifted by racy Semillon. Remarkably elegant, and a good all-rounder for an inexpensive wine. (6 x 75 cl)
Organic. Really soft and approachable blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with easy-ripe tannins. A lovely wine that is rounded enough to be drunk on its own, yet has sufficient stature to partner food. (24 x 37.5 cl)
Chateau Billot's 40 Hectare plot is situated in Monestier, South-west Bergerac. This red wine is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to produce a fruity Red wine with a nice finish. (12 x 75 cl)
Organic. Really soft and approachable blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with easy-ripe tannins. A lovely wine that is rounded enough to be drunk on its own, yet has sufficient stature to partner food. (12 x 75 cl)
The 12.5ha vineyard is situated about 20km South West of Bergerac on clayey limestone grounds. It's excellent South West exposure on the hillsides promises the utmost basis for high class wines. The fermentation lasts 15-30 days depending on the vintage characteristics. The wine is pumped over twice a day during the initial stages of fermentation, towards the end it occurs once. This is done so as to extract colour and tannins from the wine. The whole fermentation process is carefully monitored and is controlled at 33°C. Once the wine has completed the fermentation process the wine is allowed to undergo Malolactic Fermentation. This natural process softens the structure of the wine and alows it to be more accessible. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot this wine is spicy, with rich, soft, red berry fruits on the nose. This Follows through on the palate with generous ripe fruit and a pepper-herby tone, while a fine structure lends finesse and elegance. (12 x 75 cl)
