Description:
This Chianti Classico from Fontodi is wonderfully aromatic, with perfumes of fresh cherries and blackberries, giving way to light, supple tannins and lovely balance on the palate. The difficult vintage meant that Giovanni Manetti and Franco Bernabei made less Flaccianello and Vigna del Sorbo than usual, so much of this year’s Chianti Classico is in fact declassified Flaccianello. As a result, although a more forward and approachable wine than the 2004, it still has the characteristic intensity and elegance of the Fontodi range. 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon have produced a stunning and elegant wine as its combination of accessibility, depth of flavour and a velvety texture make it difficult to resist. As a general character, the wine is light in colour, but Fontodi's superb vineyards have given their wine a colour that few others will have naturally. (6 x 75 cl)

Vigna del Sorbo has ripe tannins and intense, sweet but savoury fruit which lasts through the long, elegant finish. Few properties in Tuscany are as immaculately tended, or produce such meticulously made wines, as Fontodi. This area is known as the (6 x 75 cl)
