Deliciously green-grassy Sauvignon, with ripe fruit flavours, similar in style to New World Sauvignons, but more restrained.
The winemakers of the little village of Reuilly have certainly benefited from the fantastic shared winemaking facility in this tiny appellation, built at great expense in the early 1990s. It has enabled the small growers such as Alain Mabillot who has just 3 hectares of vines, to access top equipment and expertise economically, and the result is great value Loire Sauvignon.
Classic Sauvignon from the most distinguished grower in this small district 80km west of Sancerre from vines grown on sandy, gravelly, limestone. Often called the poor man's Sancerre. (6 x 75 cl)
The Chinon appellation lies in the triangle between the Vienne and Loire departments. Famous for its red wines, the vines are planted on tuffeau, a chalky bedrock of variable hardness. This delightful wine is made with due environmental respect or "travail raisonnée" in every aspect of vineyard conduct involving minimal treatments, no use of fertilisers or herbicides. Leaf thinning is carried out in August in order to allow air to circulate amongst the grapes and to promote better ripening. A strict green harvest is also done to eliminate superfluous grapes. Classic taffeta-textured Chinon, perfume of sweet hay, violets and irises, silky smoky fruit, wild strawberries and cerise, springy acidity. (6 x 75 cl)

In this exceptional winegrowing region, just two hours south of Paris, Carmen and Alain have patiently put together their estate over the last fifteen years. Building up a superb collection of plots on some of the finest slopes of Pouilly-sur-Loire their approach respects the soil and the environment of these vineyards that face the Loire. Picked on a limestone, south-west-facing hillside, this racy vintage is the most typical of the range. The 'Cris' is the local term to describe 'pebbly limestone sown with vines'. The aromatic range, full of elegance, first releases some fruity then mineral tones. After 1 or 2 years, these tastes become more refined, taking on more and more the imprint of the local earth. The impression in the mouth is powerful, woody, and outstandingly mellow. There is excellent balance, thanks to a perfect maturity of the grapes. (12 x 75 cl)
