After some extensive renovations Durfort-Vivens actually looks like a proper chateau again rather than a chai with a semicircular turret attached: the casks are actually housed down the road in a separate cellar. Chateau Durfort-Vivens used not to deserve its deuxieme status but the quality of the wine has been improved on considerably, and today offers a jammy, fruity nuance, with a dose of oak and vanilla. Powerful tannins remain but are less astringent than before. 12-18 months in wood, 30-50% new casks. (12 x 75 cl)
Fine Margaux aroma, backed with excellent-quality, ripe, fresh fruit. Gonzague Lurton is realising the potnetial of this vineyard with a Claret of individuality, elegance and power. (6 x 75 cl)
