Description:
From the Jackson Wine Estates comes the Pepi range of wines. The Pepi Winery is an innovator and pioneer in the quality production of Italian varietals in California. Well-known for crafting the quintessential California Sangiovese, stellar Sauvignon Blanc, and crisp Pinot Grigio it also produces highly-acclaimed Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz.
Innovative and stylish the 'four surf board logo' is a representation of this range of wines. Committed to using environmentally sound vineyard practices along with an unpretentious style of winemaking the aim is to create everyday wines with intensity and focus.
This Sangiovese dominated wine has a little Cabernet Sauvignon as well as Zinfandel added and in the winery it spent 6 months in French and American oak, while Winemaker Pat Pickett considered:
'Balanced, bright and harmonious with flavours of black cherry, cocoa and spices framed by dusty tannins. Aged for more than six months in French and American oak puncheons (93 gallon barrels) to reduce the wine to oak ratio and preserve the delicate, spicy fruit. In Chianti-like fashion, it’s bone dry, light and elegantly structured. The fruit’s delicate spicy flavours complement the aromas of cherry pie and nutmeg .'
