Description: Grapefruit, tropical fruits, generous flavour and length with lively fresh acidity and a dry crisp finish. The fruit is to the fore yet the wine is multi dimensional and complete. Invite a few scallywags around for dinner and open 'The Scallywag'. Hugh is the fifth generation of the family that planted the first vineyards at Glenelg in 1837, less than one year after European settlement in South Australia. As with all families one is a black sheep and Hugh Hamilton is it. You can expect therefore to enjoy the difference. Hugh has a clear vision about the way he sees wines and he produces accordingly. He is a firm believer in the wine and food experience. Neither is magic. Both are great, especially in the company of good friends and lively conversation. His wines are therefore eminently drinkable and certainly very more-ish. (6 x 75 cl)

Montresor OTTELLA Lugana
Description: Il bianco de l'Otela, as the old inhabitants of Northern Italy's Peschiera sometimes called it, is none other than the Trebbiano di Lugana of the Montresor family, winegrowers for many generations, and the tradition continues. Franscesco left the legal profession and, with his father Ludovico, has dedicated all of his time to the pursuit of the highest quality wines. The Ottella Lugana, thanks to the care dedicated to the vineyard, to the harvest , and to the wonderful nature of the soil, which is born of great distinction. The Montresor family vinifies all the grapes from their own 25 hectares of vineyards and those of longtime growers, in order to guarantee that the highest quality wine possible is derived from the terreno. In this unexpectedly benign climate the much-maligned variety Trebbiano can flourish, especially if it is grown with care and not permitted to over-produce. Here is a beautiful example of the result: a very aromatic bouquet introduces mild, somewhat broad flavors to the palate. The wine is quite dry, but not particularly hard edged, and in a forthright and attractive way makes its case for its grape and soil, and its producer, who must be complemented for coaxing such balance into being. Windowrie THE MILL Petit Verdot Cowra New South Wales Australia
Description: The Mill Petit Verdot is red black in colour. The wine has aromas of stewed blackberry. The palate is very complex with rich full flavours and aggressive tannins. Best enjoyed with spicy or roast meats this wine should be cellared for at least the next 3 years and up to 10 years. Growing Season Fruit for this wine was sourced from the winery block. Petit Verdot was planted on this block due to its shallow soils allowing total control over vine balance. Management techniques including hand pruning, shoot thinning and restricted irrigation led to a yield of 2 t acre. This variety ripens late and was the last block harvested on the estate in April. Winemaking The fruit for this wine was harvested very ripe and showed intense colour and tannin structure. The Bordeaux red yeast was used and the wine fermented at 20-25ºC. Fermentation took place in open fermentors which were hand plunged 5 times every 24 hours. Having been fermented to approximately 2 Bé before being pressed off skins a portion of the wine underwent oak maturation in 2 and 3 year old American Oak to add complexity and structure.
