Rothbury Estate Merlot South Eastern Australia
Description: The Rothbury Estate, a working winery since 1968, is situated within Australia's oldest wine-growing region, the famous Hunter Valley. It has long been known for its diversity of wines and for recognising the potential for winemaking in the Hunter, as well as the surrounding areas of Mudgee, Cowra and Orange. Fruit was sourced from the company’s own vineyards and selected growers in premium vineyard districts in South Eastern Australia. Once in the winery the wine is fermented in stainless steel with subtle oak influence. The Rothbury Estate Blue Label Merlot is bright berry red in the glass. Rothbury Estate Chardonnay South Eastern Australia
Description: The Rothbury Estate, a working winery since 1968, is situated within Australia's oldest wine-growing region, the famous Hunter Valley. It has long been known for its diversity of wines and for recognising the potential for winemaking in the Hunter, as well as the surrounding areas of Mudgee, Cowra and Orange. 100% Chardonnay fruit was sourced from a range of vineyard sites in South Eastern Australia, the grapes were machine harvested at night to ensure optimum freshness of fruit characters and condition. Once in the winery the fruit was crushed and following this a portion of the wine was fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and American oak. Additionally, a small amount of the final blend underwent malo-lactic fermentation to add a greater complexity with a creamy mouthfeel and an enhanced the soft fruity finish. The Rothbury Estate Blue Label Chardonnay is mid straw colour with vibrant youthful notes in the glass. Classic Chardonnay aromas of peach, melon with a hint of citrus and a subtle oak influence are present on the nose. The palate shows rich fruit flavours with supporting oak and a refreshing crisp finish. (12 x 75 cl)
