Preece Shiraz Victoria Australia
Description: Tasting Note Ripe and juicy Shiraz with plenty of black and red fruit character lightly oaked to add some vanilla, toast and spice notes to the plum pudding and raspberry notes. 14.6% Victorian Shiraz, the stuff from Melbourne rather than the 1880s, is a touch lighter than the big boys from the Barossa but is still packed with smooth red and black berry fruit. The cooler climate means the wine is fresh and juicy with a smooth, easy-drinking style. Toby Barlow has crafted a cracking example , using grapes grown in the same vineyards as the flagship Mitchelton wines, making this a great value wine with real pedigree. Producer Profile Made at the Mitchelton winery in Victoria , the Preece wines take their name from Australian wine legend Colin Preece who was one of the first people to spot and cultivate Victoria's potential for winemaking back in the early 1970s. The wines are made with all the care and attention to detail you'd expect of winemaker Toby Barlow and his team and reflect Victoria's cooler climate with an elegant, approachable style in contrast to the bigger blockbuster wines from elsewhere in Oz. Jeremy Oliver described the range in his Australian Wine Annual 2005 as (6 x 75 cl)
