Description: Vines have been grown at Chateau La Gaffeliere since Gallo-Roman times, as attested by a villa from this period discovered by Count Leo de Malet Roquefort. The wine is a deep ruby-red colour and it has a rich and complex bouquet with hints of blackcurrant and truffle. 18-20 months in new barrels. "...a medium bodied wine with a sweet midpalate, excellent concentration and purity, and a classically balanced, finesse-style finish. Anticipated maturity, 2003-2014." Parker, . (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Petit Village Pomerol
Description: Petit Village is located on the highest point of the gravel plateau in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, on the outskirts of the hamlet of Catusseau. The eleven-hectare vineyard is in a single triangular shaped plot and the soil is composed of a deep layer of gravel on clay-limestone subsoil. The winery buildings and outbuildings are situated around a courtyard, forming a sort of small village to which Petit Village owes its name. Work in the vineyard and cellar is done with the greatest of care; operations such as picking, fermentation and ageing in oak barrels are carried out in the finest Pomerol tradition. Petit Village is powerful, yet soft and well balanced. It has all the incomparable richness and finesse of the greatest wines of Pomerol. 15 months in barrels. Clay-gravel. "...Medium-bodied, with low acidity, this sexy, accessible, luscious, hedonistic Pomerol will drink well between now and 2007." Parker, 86. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Leoville Barton 2eme Cru Classe Saint Julien
Description: One of five St Julien second growth properties, in the 1855 classification, Chateau Leoville is referred to as a Super-Second. that is, a chateau working at a quality level equal or approaching that of a first growth. Chateau Leoville-Barton was the Second of two estates bought by Hugh Barton in the 1820s, the other being Chateau Langoa-Barton. Since this time the Estates have remained with the family and today it is run by Anthony Barton and by his daughter Lillian. From one generetion to another the wines produced by the two properties have maintained the quality of their classification, offering wines at the very top of their appellation. The soil of St Julien is ideal for vines, due to its geographic situation and its climate; every element is present to produce wines of exceptional quality and elegance. The 45 ha estate of Chateaux Leoville Barton, along with the 15 ha Chateau Langoa-Barton have the great privilege of being in the very heart of this appellation. Both Chateaux's produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a little Cabernet Franc grapes used in the blend of this wine. Both Chateaux use the same winery and adopt traditional methods when the wines are being made. Finally the wine is aged in oak in the cellars for 18 month with 50% new barrels each year, then the wine is fined and filtered prior to bottling. A Cabernet Sauvignon dominated wine with a dark ruby core and expressive complex nose. Spicy black fruits and ripe tannins are evident although an austere element is showing before the enjoyable finish. (12 x 75 cl)

They made extensive renovations and in 1994 and Michel Rolland, the noted oenologist, began to offer his valuable winemaking advice. This is an extremely well balanced wine with great ageing potential and a remarkable finesse. 65% new barrels. Parker, 90+. (12 x 75 cl)
