Trinity Hill HOMAGE Shiraz Viognier Hawke's Bay NZ
Description: The handpicked grapes were gently de-stemmed and lightly crushed to leave a large portion of uncrushed berries. Fermentation took place in an open top stainless steel fermenter and the cap was hand plunged four times daily for optimum colour and tannin extraction. A short post-fermentation maceration helped complex the tannins, softening and stabilising the wine. The wine was subsequently aged in new French oak barriques, with malolactic fermentation taking place in tank before going to barrel. Regular racking for clarification took place during ageing in barrel. The wine was blended after 17 months oak ageing and bottled without fining or filtration. Described by one expert as ''a wonderful balance between fruit and concentration. I like very much the softness of the tannins. Very good winemaking, great wine.'' (6 x 75 cl)

Chteau Lafleur-Gazin Pomerol
Description: The vineyards are planted with a typical Pomerol mix of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. After fermentation the wine spends 20 months ageing in oak barrels, 25% of the barrels are new, each year. Very well situated between the two châteaux that make up its name, Lafleur and Gazin, Lafleur-Gazin is a very reliable source of good value Pomerol. The estate is managed by JP Moueix of Château Pétrus and this is reflected in the rich, fruity style. (12 x 75 cl)
