Scented aroma, enormous fruit and style, rich and concentrated, firm and full bodied. As a native of Piacenza, Valentino Migliorini was unconstrained by Langhe traditions when creating his state of the art cellar in Monforte. The estate is now one of the largest in Barolo, with 40 hectares owned and another 20 rented on a long-term basis, all in the commune of Monforte. Valentino’s pioneering spirit lead to his most famous creation: Bricco Manzoni, the barrique-aged blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera that have inspired many imitations. The Baroli are all superb in the modernist style, with clever use of new oak and powerful expression of the Monforte terroi (12 x 75 cl)

Andrea Oberto BAROLO DOCG Vigneto Albarella
Description: Elegant cru from the Vantrino Albarella vineyard. Andrea Oberto owns 8 hectares of perfectly exposed vineyards in the commune of La Morra . He uses organic farming methods with very hard pruning in winter and bunch thinning in the summer to reduce yields to no more than 5 or 6 bunches per vine in good vintages and 3 or 4 bunches in less good years. This equals just over 1 bottle of wine per plant in a good vintage. Oberto’s adoption of avant garde winemaking techniques and maturation exclusively in French oak means that all his wines have great elegance, suppleness and precision of fruit flavours. (12 x 75 cl)

Alphonse Mellot LE DEMOISELLE Pinot Noir Sancerre Rouge
Description: At the beginning of the nineteenth century, Alphonse Mellot founded a tavern in Sancerre where one could savour the local wines and so began a flourishing trade that was to continue. In 1881 he was granted a licence to ship his wine throughout France and all over the World. This marked the beginning of a pacific conquest which has been pursued and developed by the family business from father to son ever since, with the eldest son continuing to bear the name of the Founder Alphonse. Today, the old winemaking tradition is perpetuated by Alphonse Mellot, father and son, the 18th and 19th to bear the name. La Demoiselle has been produced for 52 years on a 1 hectare parcel of land, on the flinty, clay soil, right on the Sancerre Peak, at the spot on the east side called La Demoiselle. Great care is taken with this wine starting with hand harvesting where the grapes are picked and placed in small 25 kg boxes. Thanks to a vibrating table followed by a sorting table all grapes have been sorted, stemmed and transported into the wine vats by conveyor belt. It is fermented in 60 hl truncated wooden vats and aged in new casks for 14 months on average. This Pinot Noir is a firm ruby colour with a nose that expresses the soil. Here the flinty clay is shown in hints of smoked food and cherries in kirsch, all blended in extremely silky tannins. (12 x 75 cl)
