Jean-Claude Boisset Grand Cru CLOS DE LA ROCHE Morey-St-Denis
Description: This wine is aged in the cask for sixteen to eighteen months, using a fairly low proportion of new casks finally being bottled with a very light filtration. 100% Pinot Noir it is displaying a fine dark colour with ruby reflections. The aromas of spices and cherries develop on the palate of this a silky structured red wine finishing with a mellow woodiness. Morey-Saint-Denis, nestling in its enclave between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, produces no fewer than five Grands Crus. Forming the northern boundary of the commune, 'Clos de la Roche' takes its name from a rock used by the Celts for their rites. Adjoining 'Latricieres-Chambertin', Clos de la Roche produces Morey's most robust wines. The soil here is so pebbly and hard to work that it used to exhaust even the toughest growers. These hard brown pieces of limestone make for a very firm wine, but one with the best possible ageing potential. Today, 'Clos de la Roche' covers some 16 hectares. (6 x 75 cl)

Rocche dei Manzoni BAROLO DOCG Vigna Big
Description: Deep in colour, delicate floral aroma, with a vanilla note and full flavour. As a native of Piacenza, Valentino Migliorini was unconstrained by Langhe traditions when creating his state of the art cellar in Monforte. The estate is now one of the largest in Barolo, with 40 hectares owned and another 20 rented on a long-term basis, all in the commune of Monforte. Valentino’s pioneering spirit lead to his most famous creation: Bricco Manzoni, the barrique-aged blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera that have inspired many imitations. The Baroli are all superb in the modernist style, with clever use of new oak and powerful expression of the Monforte terroi (12 x 75 cl)

Conterno Fantino MONPRA Piemonte
Description: Conterno Fantino was founded by the present owners in 1982. Claudio Conterno and longtime friend Guido Fantino shared bodly innovative ideas, with a solid basis in classic vineyard management. In 1994, they built a new, state-of-the-art winery high up in Monforte d'Alba, within the Bricco Bastia terroir and this became the heart of their estate. Scenically located with a view of the entire Alpi Piemontesi range, it includes vinification and maturation areas, here, technology and vinicultural know-how play fundamental roles. However, the Conterno Fantino philosophy is firmly based on meticulous vineyard management, for great Piemontese wine starts in the vineyarde. Monpra production began in 1984 with a blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo. From the 1992 vintage, Cabernet Sauvignon was added. Originally, D.O.C. regulations did not allow this sort of blend, which was therefore simply denominated 'Vino da Tavola', although in 1994, the regulations changed and the new denomination of 'Langhe Rosso' included blends of different wines. This deep red coloured wine is a blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Cabernet Sauvignon the three wines are aged separately for 18 months in small oak barrels , and blended just before bottling. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine Bernard Defaix Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesir
Description: Bernard Defaix, fourth generation of a family of vine-growers, started in 1959 with 2 hectares. Today the domain stretches over 26 hectares including vineyards in Chablis Premier Cru , Chablis and Petit Chablis. Today, the Domaine is run by Bernard Defaix's sons Sylvain and Didier and this grand cru is situated on the west/south-west extremity of the seven grands crus of Chablis. The cuvee of Bougros comes from a vine located on the top of the slope, so the exposure to the sun is excellent. Vinification is achieved in an old arched cellar in the center of the village, where the very first wines of Domaine Bernard Defaix were vinified. The wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels with regular 'batonnage.' Finally, the wine is bottled without filtration after 15 months ageing. This has produced a lovely yellow coloured wine with very pleasant flavours of flowers, honeysuckle in particular, and mineral notes. The flavours have developed a complex, full mouth with good length. (12 x 75 cl)
