Pelee Island Winery ICEWINE Vidal Ontario
Description: The Island is rich in winemaking history. In 1891, Captain J.S. Hamilton, the president of Pelee Island Wine Company and J.S. Hamilton & Co., began construction of a three-storey building made from stone quarried on Pelee Island. Named the Wine House, it was located on five acres near the west dock on Pelee Island. From the winepress on the third floor, juice was piped to thousand-gallon vats on the lowest level. Initially, the cellar of the Wine House contained between 15 and 18 of these vats. In 1979 the Pelee Island Winery was re-established by a group committed not just to building a world-class winery, but also to the natural heritage of the island. The century old tradition of grape growing on the island continues. Pelee Island Winery now produce around 2 dozen different wines, and are the largest VQA wine producer in Ontario. Hugely concentrated with rich citrus and caramel laced fruit, eye- watering acidity, and a finish that never ends, this is simply a great dessert wine. Available in half bottles. (12 x 37.5 cl)

Domaine Cuilleron LES AYGUETS Recoltes Tardives Condrieu
Description: It has taken Yves Cuilleron 10 years to establish himself as one of the most dynamic young winegrowers in the Northern Rhone. His bold wines move and impress aficionados by their deep combination of terroir and style, a style which combines concentration and elegance, the two words which best define a great wine. The Condrieu appellation is only 100 hectares in total of which Yves owns 8. This makes him a major player in an appellation which has 40 vineyard owners and in which only 20 producers make their own wine. In recent years as part of the revival of interest in Rhone Valley wines, a group of mostly young growers, all working with consultant oenologist Jean Luc Colombo, have formed a group called Rhone Vignobles. Colombo has generated interest (6 x 50 cl)

Harmonious assemblage of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier this Champagne is a pale yellow colour with shades of green and a fine beade. Jean-Claude Boisset Morey Saint Denis Grand Cru Clos de la Roche
Description: Morey-Saint-Denis, nestling in its enclave between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, produces no fewer than five Grands Crus. Forming the northern boundary of the commune, 'Clos de la Roche' takes its name from a rock used by the Celts for their rites. Adjoining 'Latricières-Chambertin', it produces Morey's most robust wines. The soil here is so pebbly and hard to work that it used to exhaust even the toughest growers. These hard brown pieces of limestone make for a very firm wine, but one with the best possible ageing potential. Today, 'Clos de la Roche' covers some 16 hectares. (6 x 75 cl)
