Chateau Broustet 2eme Cru Classe Barsac
Description: The Estate is owned by Didier Laulan, whose family have produced wine in Barsac for generations. It is located outside the village of Barsac in the so-called 'Haut Barsac' area. Chateau Broustet covers some 16 hectares in this part of the Garonne valley, better known as Sauternais. The location of Barsac-Sauternes near the Garonne, gives rise to special conditions in the autumn, when the morning mists are followed by hot days, thus favouring the development of noble rot. This action of 'botrytis cinerea' produces water evaporation, which leads to a natural sugar concentration. The soil is siliceous gravel on clay and limestone subsoil, which has a high iron content. This gives Barsac wines their special character. The average age of the vine is 40 years old, planted in proportions: 80% Semillon, 10% Sauvignon, 10% Muscadelle. Extreme care is given to the picking, and it can take 5 or 6 rounds to pick all the grapes. After the vinification, which takes place in small stainless steel vats, and up until the bottling, the wine ages for two years in barrels, renewed by a third each year. A very sweet full bodied white wine, excellent as an aperitif and also accompanies desserts to round off the meal. The severe pruning of the vines combined with the concentrating action of noble rot gives a low average yield of 12 hectolitres per hectare, that is to say 2000 cases of 12 bottles. (24 x 37.5 cl)

Chateau de Pez Cru Bourgeois Saint Estephe
Description: The domaine of Pez, created in the 15th century, is, along with Calon, the oldest in Saint Estephe. In 1452, squire Jean de Briscos ruled the estate: in 1526 the nobleman Ducos was master, followed by Jean de Pontac in 1585. The Pontac family, who likewise created Haut Brion, gave Pez its vineyards. The property remained in the hands of descendants... the marquis d'Aulede and count de Fumel, until the French Revolution. Sold as a property of the state, the domaine belonged to the Tarteiron and Dousson families in succession. It was purchased in 1995 by Champagne Louis Roederer. Chateau de Pez is located west of the town of Saint Estephe, the estate consists of 30 continuous hectares, with 24 hectares under vine, planted to prime grape varieties, mainly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Chateau de Pez winery remains resolutely faithful to wood. The blend is composed in December, then the wine is stored on barrels and racked every 3 months. After approx. 1 year, roughly midway through the maturation process, the wine is fined using fresh egg whites. It is to be noted that the wine undergoes absolutely no filtration. Chateau de Pez exhibits deep colour and harmonious composition. This complete, rich, dense wine merits ageing. Thanks to the quality of its production, Chateau de Pez is counted amongst the most highly reputed crus of the Medoc. Deep, opaque ruby hue. Forward, opulent spice box, black fruit and mineral aromas. A lush entry leads to a moderately full bodied palate with velvety tannins. Supple and hedonistic with very good flavor intensity. Grippy finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Two Hands BELLA'S GARDEN Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia
Description: The 'two hands' are Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz who formed the company in 1999 with the clear objective of making the best possible Shiraz based wines from prized Shiraz producing regions within Australia. Michael Twelftree, initially from a construction background, spent a number of years exporting Australian Wine to the USA and Asia. Richard Mintz a chartered accountant, was formerly C.E.O. of one of Australia's leading Cooperage's in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. With Twelftree's contacts and wine savvy approach and Mintz's management skills and business acumen, the two old friends decided to make some wine together. In 2000 they started with just 17 tonnes of fruit from the McLaren Vale and Padthaway wine regions. From the beginning the wines were very well received at home and abroad with a healthy stream of reviews culminating in 2004 with Robert M. Parker pronouncing Two Hands as 'the finest negociant operation south of the equator'. Deep black core with an intense purple rim this wine has a nose showing intense blackberries and plum with a cedar dark chocolate edge. A seamless full bodied palate showing a complex kaleidoscope of black fruits that are not intrusive but mingle harmoniously with the subtleties of the oak. This wine possesses elegance and fruit purity while the tannins are evident but well balanced producing a 'silk pillow' mouth feel that is long and persistent. (12 x 75 cl)

Jean-Claude Boisset Nuits-Saint-Georges1er Cru Les Boudots
Description: A very deep and brilliant red coloured wine it is showing elegant black fruits on the nose. Moncentrated and round in the mouth this well made red combines elegance with high quality. The maceration lasts about 3 weeks with more-or-less frequent cap punching 'by foot'. No oenological products such as yeasts, enzymes or tannins are added, to ensure respect for such a precious terroir.
