With a Groucho Marx label the wine has a black, ink jet colour with a slight cherry red flicker. The bouquet is all baking spice, cloves, mints, herb garden, plums, cedar and rhubarb with flour bag, cola and rose oil. The Palate is grippy, bright with an array of cherries, Full-bodied, with superb concentration, good delineation, and a rich, layered mid palate. The wine has a great punch of initial fruit that is backed by a burst of acid in the mid palate that drives the fruit to a long finish backed by fine tannins. This is a real finesse wine that shows the potential of Australian wines with more careful oak selections. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine Chandon de Briailles LE CORTON Grand Cru Blanc Corton
Description: Owned by the same family since 1834 Domaine Chandon de Briailles was once a renowned domaine, but things had declined. Then in 1990, Nadine de Nicolay and her daughter, Claude, took over. Changes were made everywhere as yields were reduced, the use of herbicides abandoned for natural methods, while fining and filtration were stopped. This change in philosophy resulted in a changed of fortune and Domaine Chandon de Briailles is once again acknowledged as a maker of fine wines. This change has been reflected not only in the vineyard but also in the winery and the wines now spend between 18 and 24 months in the underground cellars where they are racked twice and bottled by gravity without filtration. A sophisticated and balanced wine it is showing hints of melon, mango, pear aromas. The robust, borderline rustic, masculine flavours are underpinned by a dry, racy, intense finish. Limited availability. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Tollot-Beaut Grand Cru Corton-Bressandes
Description: Tollot-Beaut were among the group of pioneering Burgundians who started producing and bottling their own wines in the early part of the 20th Century. As rich in tradition as this Domaine is, under Nathalie Tollot, no-one rests on their laurels and a premium is placed on quality. Money is spent on new oak every year to ensure a good stock of healthy barrels which provide the perfect resting place for their magnificent wines. However, it is the vineyard where most of the investment goes on. They employ twice as many people per hectare than any of their neighbours to restrict the vigour of the vines and therefore increase the chances of ripe concentrated grapes being produced every year. The wines remain respectful to their origins while sharing characteristic spicy, toasty and cherry fruit flavours. (6 x 75 cl)
