This property is one of AlsaceÕs best kept secrets. The wines show fabulous purity and precision with an intense floral/mineral backbone. Their terroir is particularly suited for Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. Domaine Chandon de Briailles Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavieres
Description: Owned by the same family since 1834 Domaine Chandon de Briailles was once a renowned domaine, but things had declined. Then in 1990, Nadine de Nicolay and her daughter, Claude, took over. Changes were made everywhere as yields were reduced, the use of herbicides abandoned for natural methods, while fining and filtration were stopped. This change in philosophy resulted in a changed of fortune and Domaine Chandon de Briailles is once again acknowledged as a maker of fine wines. This change has been reflected not only in the vineyard but also in the winery and the wines now spend between 18 and 24 months in the underground cellars where they are racked twice and bottled by gravity without filtration. A deep red coloured wine with concentrated, big rich fruit flavours and a long sophisticated finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Domaine Cuilleron LA MADINIERE Cote Rotie
Description: It has taken Yves Cuilleron 10 years to establish himself as one of the most dynamic young winegrowers in the Northern Rhone. His bold wines move and impress aficionados by their deep combination of terroir and style, a style which combines concentration and elegance, the two words which best define a great wine. The Condrieu appellation is only 100 hectares in total of which Yves owns 8. This makes him a major player in an appellation which has 40 vineyard owners and in which only 20 producers make their own wine. In recent years as part of the revival of interest in Rhone Valley wines, a group of mostly young growers, all working with consultant oenologist Jean Luc Colombo, have formed a group called Rhone Vignobles. Colombo has generated interest (6 x 75 cl)
