Chateau Rieussec CARMES DE RIEUSSEC Sauternes AC
Description: The second wine of Chateau Rieussec Carmes de Rieussec is selected according to the same standards as the first wine. Its constant feature is centred on a fine aromatic structure dominated by citrus aromas. The name, Carmes de Rieussec, relates to the monks of the Carmes de Langon, who were owners of the Rieussec estate in the 18th century. A blend of Semillon 85%, Sauvignon Blanc 10% and a little Muscadelle 5% this wine has spent 18 months in barrel. This is an intense golden yellow coloured wine that is showing preserved fruit on the nose, with hints of apricot. The nose develops on the palate as the range of flavours deliver a harmonious well-rounded first impression. In the 18th century, the Rieussec estate belonged to the Carmes de Langon monks. The confiscation of the estate during the revolution led to its public sale around 1790 as an 'object of national heritage' to Mr. Marheilhac, the period’s owner of Château La Louvière at Leognan. For the 1855 classification, M. Mayne was the owner of the estate. The quality of the Rieussec soil earned its ranking as a first growth Sauternes and Barsac. After that date, Rieussec’s history involves many change of owners. Acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 1984 the estate then included 110 hectares of which 68 hectares were vineyards. To enhance Chateau Rieussec’s potential, stern measures were implemented, including meticulous sorting of seeds and fermenting in barrels, which provides a superior selection for blending fine wines as well as a new chai being built to extend ageing in barrels. Available in 37.5 cl Half Bottles. (24 x 37.5 cl)

Chateau Grand Corbin Grand Cru Classe Saint Emilion
Description: During the growing season the grapes were able to acquire a richness in sugar and polyphenols producing flavoursome totally ripe Merlot and Cabernet Franc. To enhance the fruit and richness cold pre-fermentation macerations took place as well as lengthy post-fermentation macerations that lasted about a month. This has produced a wine very dark in colour, a nose of candied black fruits and are unctuous and powerful on the palate. This wine is ideal for laying down.

Domaine Cuilleron LA PETITE COTE Condrieu
Description: It has taken Yves Cuilleron 10 years to establish himself as one of the most dynamic young winegrowers in the Northern Rhone. His bold wines move and impress aficionados by their deep combination of terroir and style, a style which combines concentration and elegance, the two words which best define a great wine. The Condrieu appellation is only 100 hectares in total of which Yves owns 8. This makes him a major player in an appellation which has 40 vineyard owners and in which only 20 producers make their own wine. The grapes for all of Cuilleron's Condrieu's are harvested by hand, and when you see the precipitous slopes of the appellation you can see why. All the wines are fermented in French oak barrels. A portion of the wine is then aged in oak while the remainder is transferred to tank to await the blending. This Viognier has pineapple and hay aromas with some by floral and herbaceous nuances. Juicy, light and fresh; a wine of modest size and depth, but one with good mineral spine and liveliness. Available in half bottles.

Taylor's QUNITA DE VARGELLAS Port
Description: Quinta de Vargellas is arguably the most renowned and prestigious estate in the Douro Valley. The reputation of its wines dates back to the 1820s. Since its purchase by Taylor's over a century ago, the wines of Vargellas have formed the backbone of the legendary Taylor's vintage ports. In certain years, however, when a Taylor Vintage is not declared, the best wine of Vargellas has traditionally been bottled as a 'single-Quinta' vintage port. These elegant, scented vintages were initially bottled for the partners' own cellar. However Taylor's was later to become the earliest shipper to develop a market for this increasingly important category of vintage port. This is a 'single quinta' wine, made in exactly the same way as Taylor's Vintage Port, but using only the grapes from this individual property, trodden on the estate. Only small quantities are made, and only in very good years and this Port is a deep purple/black colour with attractive perfumed violet aromas. Showing an enormously rich, concentrated aromatic nose it develops lovely fresh berry and liquorice flavours on the palate. A wine with big fruit and tannins in perfect balance it is rich and concentrated with a nice lingering finish. BR
